India's longest runway opens in New Delhi

The third runway that is the longest(4,430-metre) will allow the Airport to double the number of flights it handles every hour .

Air India's Boeing 777-300ER (extended range) aircraft was the first plane to land during the test flight on the runway .

The runway, christened 29/11, has CAT IIIB instrument landing system (ILS) on both Dwarka and Vasant Kunj sides which will allow aircraft to land even when the visibility is as low as 50-metre.

The trails will continue till 24th and the runway will be in full use from Aug28 there after ..

The run costed 1000 crore , which was built with the best technologies .The airport is expected reduce the congestion of air traffic in New Delhi
